    embrace your inner romantic!

"Wonderful story! Very Heyer and Austen-like! I loved the characters and the storyline, it's been a long time since I've read a regency that did not disappoint. I can't wait to see more from this author"

"Beautifully written and thoroughly in-the-period, it felt as though the author has witnessed those times"

Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer have always faithfully provided me with my favourite romantic literary escape. When my everyday life would get a little too everyday, I'd like nothing better than to enter the charming Regency world they created.

Some might say it's old-fashioned, even kitsch (Ms Heyer they're looking at you), but a large tribe of us embrace those very qualities...they make for a fun, feel-good read.

My aim as an author is to keep that brand of retro humour and romance alive. And no, this does not mean that I presume to the heights of Austen or Heyer so please put away that scary yardstick! (Quite frankly, who living today can? Our brains are now wired differently).

As for heat, my writing tends towards 'traditional with passion' and not 'Fifty Shades of Grey set in the Regency'...but I'm not judging, I just know my limits. Writing the minutiae of the 'intimate act' without plunging into the murky waters of bad taste is dashed difficult!

To my reviewers, some of whom I've quoted below, thank you! You inspire me to keep writing.

"A wonderfully enjoyable read with a rich and charming styIe! I was completely enthralled with the story and the characters... The Marquess of Chysm was especially thrilling. A fun, witty and very addictive novel"

"Still reeling from the beautiful prose and breathtaking romance. A true witnessing of two people falling in love, not mere lust like so many modern regencies. From the very first page I fell in love with Artemisia's character"

Editorial and Blog Reviews

"I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I am sorry it is finished. The dialogue was witty, the characters enchanting, and the plot unpredictable (I mean that in a good way)"

"What a witty, delightful, engaging book! And how refreshing to read a book where the author claims Georgette Heyer to be an influence and the book to actually feel Heyer-like! . . . I am glad I didn't let the somewhat demure cover deter me from reading this light-hearted, fun romp!"

"I can't believe this book went undetected by me for so long; I thought I had thoroughly scoured all potential Regency authors! In any case, I'm so happy I finally found this one. It was the most delightful read I've had in a while. The first point in its favor: it was a clean Regency . . . which can be so hard to find nowadays. However, there was plenty of romanctic build-up and sexual tension. It was positively zinging off the pages!"

"Being a fan of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, I had to read this book. I have always held the characters from P&P close to my heart thinking that none could ever come close. I have now been proven wrong, the characters that DG Rampton brings to life in this story are strong, witty and beautifully alive."  - The Scribe @ Aussieblogs

"Artemisia . . . a protagonist of whom Jane Austen would have approved, majoring in wit and intelligence . . . makes for fun reading as you curl up by a roaring fire."  - The Richmond Magazine

"4.5 out of 5 stars . . . What an utterly delightful novel!

I was quite enamoured with our hero and heroine and their tumultuous relationship . . . loved seeing these two fall in love against their will, against their reason, and even against their character!"

"I was tempted to read this book after seeing a magazine review which suggested the author had indeed produced a piece of writing comparable with Jane Austen. Surely not?! Well, I have to say that this book is not only enjoyable but is also crafted superbly. The capture of the language of the period is accurate and does indeed help to transport the reader into Regency life; it is evident that Ms Rampton not only has talent for this genre but also exhibits a passion for the work"
